Has anyone ever tried a tandem beach cruiser on the Playa? Saw one on the Wally world web site and hubby is saying it is "too heavy" for the playa...As I don't trust him - am searching for answers from the tribe.

Re: Tandem beach cruiser
Sat, July 11, 2009 - 10:47 PMif the tires are wide, it's probably fine. just make sure you've got low gearing. soem people are pedaling huge contraptions with low enough gearing and WIDE tires.
got a pic of the proposed ride? -

Re: Tandem beach cruiser
Wed, July 15, 2009 - 9:33 PMWe took one last year, its a Worksman tandem which is heavy but managable. Unfortunately last year was a bad year for any bike due to the dunes. Daytime riding was ok but it was tough to manuver at night through the crowds. -

Re: Tandem beach cruiser
Fri, July 17, 2009 - 11:00 AMI thrashed a brand new trike last year in the first 100 yards of trying to ride. Sheared the pins in the tranny trying to get through the playa dust. Have a beach cruiser for stand by but was hoping a tandem might also work. Probably will walk again if the playa isn't any better. Thanks for all the tips.
