The Boulder, Colorado, Kinetic Sculpture Race may very well return, more or less on schedule, as some of the participants are now planning to organize the race themselves. As it was, it was more of a rock concert and beer bash anyway, with a KSR thrown in. The organizing radio station charged admission and turned a profit, and I talked to several people who said they were there for the live music. Nothing wrong with that, but not very... Kinetic. When the profits dried up, the radio station people "moved on". Not Kinetic at all! ;-)

The Boulder race used to be on the first weekend of May. Last I heard, it may happen on May 17 this year -- possibly at a different venue.

By the way, it looks like we can add an event to the 2008 schedule. May 11 (Mothers Day), The Kinetic Klassic in Ferndale, CA. As I understand it, it's 95 % certain to happen. It will be a re-creation of the original KSR -- two blocks down Main Street, anything human-powered. I plan to race a 12 foot Ferris Wheel I happen to have sitting around.
